Implants are artificial tooth roots. Dental implants take the place of the extracted teeth in such a way that the dentist implants the artificial root into the jawbone. The patient can eliminate a lot of trouble because the implant is able to carry out the functions of the natural teeth. Problems occurring when speaking and chewing disappear and you feel much more comfortable. Removable dentures are not necessary. We manufacture implanted dentures to feel the same as the natural teeth. Application of the implants contributes to prevention of bone-decomposition after tooth extraction. The procedure also prevents aesthetic failure in the face as happens after a while when you lose your teeth.
Dental implantology has been developed a lot in the last decade. The implants are made of unalloyed titanium and meet the highest quality requirements. The human body considers this biological material to be natural. Therefore, the implanted artificial root is not rejected and does not cause any harmful effect.
Implants and superstructures are made in various forms and sizes. The dentist will be able to choose the best version for you.

In which cases can the implantation be carried out?
Dental implantation can be carried out when:
One tooth is missing:
When only one tooth is missing (due to an accident or injury) or because of serious decay where the tooth has to be extracted, provided the adjacent teeth are in good condition, a single implant can be made. For this, or similar situations, a bridge is not required.
When more than one tooth is missing in the row of teeth
Surrounding teeth can preserve their perfect condition by the application of implants.
When more than one tooth is missing at the end of the row
According to traditional dental procedure, only removable dentures can be made in this case. However, a fixed bridge can be applied when one or more implants are placed.
Total lack of teeth
After extracting the teeth, bone starts to be consumed. This makes it difficult to use a denture. The troubles resulting from this can be eliminated by implantation. In this case, the artificial root serves as a pillar and is connected to the row of teeth.
Provided sufficient bone is available, multiple implants may be used.
A fixed denture can then be created.

Preparation for implantation:
In order to complete the implantation, X-ray examinations are required in addition to the general dental survey. The dentist must know the general status of the patient; the possible diseases present. Past history is also required with details of allergies and medication.
Implantation can be completed only if the patient:
has good oral hygiene
has enough bony substance in the place where the implant is planned
is ready to cooperate with the dentist
Reasons when surgery cannot be completed are as follows:
untreated diabetes
cardiac and vascular diseases
excessive smoking
drug addiction
taking of certain medicines
Implantation procedure
Dentist is informed of the status and amount of bony substance by X-ray examinations and plans the placement of the implantations. A section is made on the mucous membrane to make the bone available and the place for the implant is created. For this a special dental instrument is used. After the implant is screwed in it is closed with a cap screw for the healing period. The gums are then stitched. If there is sufficient bony substance of proper quality and thickness (minimum 12 mm) the implants can be loaded immediately. When this is not possible, we have to wait for ossification for 3 - 6 months. After ossification, the dentist makes a dental impression and the tooth body can be manufactured.
The position of the implant is influence by the position of the bone used for fixing the implant. Therefore it is possible that the manufactured tooth body does not have an absolutely regular shape. This also occurs with the natural tooth as well.
The crown/denture being fixed onto the implant has form and colour similar to the natural teeth. This gives a natural look to the manufactured crown/denture in addition to the function of the natural teeth. This procedure provides very good results.
What to do after the operation
Wet pack is recommended to decrease the swelling
Do not eat until the anaesthetic is inactive
Do not have coffee, tea, spicy foods and cigarettes for at least one day
Do not drive for some hours after the operation
Take the recommended medicines (analgesic if necessary)
Take care of oral hygiene, brush the teeth and follow the dentist's recommendations
Rinsing with Chlorexidin is recommended for some days after the operation
Further Tasks:
It is important that contact between the dentist and patient is not finished when the implanation is completed. For the long term success, it is essential to follow the dentist's instructions. Regular checkups - every 6 - 12 months - are recommended. These checkups can be undertaken in the UK with your own dentist if you wish.
Recommendations:
Oral hygiene is especially important both before and after the operation. The dentist and hygienist can provide some recommendations. They explain and demonstrate the correct method of tooth brushing. In addition to the toothbrush, some special equipment can be purchased if necessary such as interdental cleaning equipment and tooth silk, etc.
Long-term success of the implants depends on your cooperation with the dentist. In case of even a minor problem do not hesitate to contact your dentist.
There are various Implant systems to choose from. Please see below a list of them:
These each have their own costs. The implant system quoted on the Welcome Page is for the KG Implant. Please inquire if you are interested in a specific implant system and we will get back to you with the relevant costs.
